Hi all

I have a '98 EL as my parts car that will supply pretty much everything for my ED. However, I am up in the air over the airbags.

Is it feasible to transfer the airbag system over to an EB or it it:

a) not possible
b) not worth the risk
c) not worth the pain
d) can be done

I ask for two reasons - 1) I want to take the whole steering column over and 2) the dash has the hole for the PAB. If I can't do the conversion, I am really not sure I want the PAB hole/panel there even though it could be used for hiding stuff.

Oh, and I am still in my thinking stage as I have my wifes EB to finish off before I start the EL to ED conversion...

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers
RD

if you take all the wiring and looms and dash etc etc from the EL to EB direct swap, i couldn't see any drama or hassle would take time to get all the brackets etc etc,

didn't PIMP do it to his EB with fairmont stuff?

HAHA i did everything EXCEPT the airbag. I could have, but didn't want it, its simple enough to do, the most difficult (but still not hard) part is swapping the top half of the coloum to the EF/L one.

OK, so it is possible then... I suppose I would have to be careful about the sensor thingy behind the grill. It may be worth having a look at, I suppose I need to evaluate how long it would take and how safe it would be...

Cheers

I Agree that it should be easy while you are doing the whole loom/dash swap anyway. Swap all the looms for the car, mount the sensors where they are meant to go and should hopefully be ok.

I remember reading about where the sensors are, perhaps on the true blue ford site somewhere. I cant find it atm though :(

Do mount the crash sensors/airbag module correctly, and in the right orientation, otherwise the system will spit out fault codes for incorrect mount, etc.
