There's also a clear frost spray that you can buy from hardware stores like Bunnings. I've used that to frost all my LED's and it has the same effect.

Weigh the options - go and buy a can of spray, or spend a few seconds with some sand-paper... hmmm...

I'd have to disagree with that. The shape of the LEDs housing is designed as a lens to focus teh light forwards with minimal side spill. By flattening off the top it provides some internal reflection, while roughing up the sides (and of course the top), acts as a diffuser spreading the light in a more uniform fashion.

The 'fake snow' spray would not help with the shape of the lens focusing the light predominately forward.

finally got around to frosting them... evened up the amount pretty good, the needles done seem as bright as they did to start off with, its all just the same, but am pretty happy with it, thanks for all the info/advice/ideas.
again please excuse crap photo, was on camera phone, and u have to click the image to see it...

the 2nd pic looks alot better.

but honestly, the best cluster i have ever seen is in my mates subaru liberty gt premium....its the one that puts a red line around the outside of all the gauges abd the needles glow red and then go from and rev out (all just a system check)...after they do the once over rev out system check the rest of the lights come on...
surely people have seen the ads on this too...looks much better in real...
and yes, my mate did get the car because of this feature :P
