Hi,
My EL Fairmont antenna height button light has bitten the dust, the rear demist button lights up with the headlights but the antenna button doesn't.
My question is are the globes in these buttons the same as the cluster globes? I have a couple of spare cluster globes in the shed. Or, is the button sealed and the globe can't be changed?

Thanks,
Darin.

Hey,

No they r not the same as the cluster globes. they r a small (2-3mm) globe with thin wire legs on them which wrap around a small flat twist on holder.

they are changeable.
I put a 3mm blue led in my two switches and into all the power window buttons. (alot of work doin that though!)

Thanks for that, guess I'm visiting Rebel Ford on the way home from work tomorrow to get a globe.

Make sure you're sitting down when you get a price - last time I checked - $16 for this pi$$y small little globe and holder.

Better option, convert it to a white led (where mine is blue).

You're not wrong, $11 something I got it down to. For a tiny globe, that's crap!
Will arrive in Adelaide on Thursday, then the fun of fitting it...

Hmmm - yeah...ah well you screwed them down to what appears to be trade price or something :)

Yeah fitting the globe and holder assy is a piece of cake...but haven't tried pulling the globe from the holder yet - let us know how you go !

This sounds VERY VERY VERY similar to the clock globe and if that is that case, i picked one up from the petrol station for 65cents  the holder well yeah it took me some time to figure it out and ended up smashing the globe before i found out how to remove the globe. If u look at the holder u will see the twist connectors on them, look directly underneath them and u will see a small strip of metal, u need to push them in (one on either side) then it will come out. These bits of metal are attached to the wire at the end of the globe with solder. Now u could do it the right way and solder the new legs onto the metal , or u could do the easy way (like mine) and wrap the legs around the metal. And you are done with a 65 cent globe instead of a $11-$16 globe and holder

Globe arrived today, it had a new holder pre fitted. Ripper!
Just had to pull dash fascia, remove switch, carefully! (I've had the switch bezel broken once already when a friend first showed me how the fascias come off, new bezel cost him $16), twist globe assy out, fit new globe and put everything back together. Too easy, really.
