Ok so the LED has two legs right? Is it like a wire which carries a positive and negative voltage? Or do you just solder them onto the back of the air con panel (the white bit)?

Quote:
pretty much there are two globes, 4 wires go to the one globe, then two go from that globe to the other globe!

cut them

I assume this is to stop the normal lights coming through?

na there are wires going to the globes.. and yes u just wire one leg to the positive wire, and one leg to the other wire.

Its very easy haha, once u have it infront of you!

Ok so the LED has a positive and negative leg, which attached to the respective wire.

What abot resistors and that stuff?

plug and play LED's like narva ones should already have resistors on them. Other ones (like ones you get from d**k smith and jaycar) need to have the respective resistors soldered onto them. Narva LED's are definatly the best plug and play LED's

no, u need normal ones!

just need a resistor on one of the legs, and join it up... make sure u test it to make sure it works, as in this case, positive and negitive wires look exactely the same!

if u open it up, its very easy!

i think i used 560ohm resistors on my 5000mcd leds.. im not sure of how to work it out... its on the site somewhere though!

gl ;p

Yeah, both my cars are pretty much LED lighting all through.
Even the Central locking & Fuel flap switches are lit in the wagon . . . . :P

When I fit Climate control in the wagon, you can have the old A/C control panel if you like - it's got white LED's fitted though - two in the plugin lights on the left side, and two fitted to the internal circuit board.

Well the answer is you don't - I've dismantled spare switches and it isn't possible. Aircraft use what's known as 'pillar' lighting - this is where the light is directed down on the item you want to light. This is what I've done, and this is a white LED fitted to a modified LED holder - the light is directed on the switch face, and it doesn't disturb the drivers vision either. Have a look at pics 3 & 4 in my gallery.

if you had spare buttons you could probably dremel/cut out the picture, refill with a clear filler and then mount an led in behind - might take some doing though...

Too hard Greg, due to the design it's too small an area to even fit a small bulb or LED in.

Cost ya fella !!!
I do need to do a trip to the Gold Coast soon to check out my real estate and catch up with people - might be the time to do it. :P
