Ok so the LED has two legs right? Is it like a wire which carries a positive and negative voltage? Or do you just solder them onto the back of the air con panel (the white bit)?

na there are wires going to the globes.. and yes u just wire one leg to the positive wire, and one leg to the other wire.
Its very easy haha, once u have it infront of you!

What abot resistors and that stuff? plug and play LED's like narva ones should already have resistors on them. Other ones (like ones you get from d**k smith and jaycar) need to have the respective resistors soldered onto them. Narva LED's are definatly the best plug and play LED's

eah I have Narva LEDs in my cluster and trip comp. But will Narva LED ones fit in the air con panel?

no, u need normal ones!
just need a resistor on one of the legs, and join it up... make sure u test it to make sure it works, as in this case, positive and negitive wires look exactely the same! if u open it up, its very easy! i think i used 560ohm resistors on my 5000mcd leds.. im not sure of how to work it out... its on the site somewhere though! gl ;p

Yeah, both my cars are pretty much LED lighting all through.
Even the Central locking & Fuel flap switches are lit in the wagon . . . . 
When I fit Climate control in the wagon, you can have the old A/C control panel if you like - it's got white LED's fitted though - two in the plugin lights on the left side, and two fitted to the internal circuit board.

Aircraft use what's known as 'pillar' lighting - this is where the light is directed down on the item you want to light. This is what I've done, and this is a white LED fitted to a modified LED holder - the light is directed on the switch face, and it doesn't disturb the drivers vision either. Have a look at pics 3 & 4 in my gallery.

if you had spare buttons you could probably dremel/cut out the picture, refill with a clear filler and then mount an led in behind - might take some doing though...
