Like the BAs and commos have? Anyone done this to a E series?
It's a thought I've had after I almost had a flat battery leaving my parkers on all day. You se my new alarm doesn't kill the engine til you lock the doors - so you never get to hear the warning noise. If however the parkers come on/off with the engine, it won't be a problem. I haevn't thought to much about it yet, I'm guessing it wouldn't be much more than a relay between the ignition line (#2 on the key), and the parker/headlight switch in the dash. Thoughts?

If you did that how would you leave the park lights on when parked short term on a dark street etc.

hey im currently workin on a similar idea but havin the parkers come on an off as the remote central lockin is being used.
ive found best bet is to set up a 30 sec timer of some form that is activated to shutoff ya accessory power once the vehicle is shut off. In this case we are talkin headlights and stuff so all ya do is have the timer cut power from ya headlight fuses under the dash easy. |

On the Au fairmonts they have a timmer delay, when you turn the car off the lights or parkers can stay on for another 90 sec. This real handy when you drive at dawn and dust all the time and can be bothered turning them off.

yeah, that's the prob I'm having, get into work early, so need lights on, but get into work, and can't see that they're actually on. And because of the way the alarm works, the engine remains on, until you're out and have locked the doors, so the warning noise doesn't even start til then.
Best bet I think is to add a relay in between the light switch, and the alarm's ignition output.

The BEM turns off power to the power windows IIRC about 30 secs after ign is turned off and a door is opened - you could tap into this power and use it to run your park light disable relay.
The engine running provides a prob though . . . 
EL BEM's will turn off radio power, interior lights, etc, an hour after ign is turned off - could be another option ??

The interior lights and other lights ie key barrel lights, have a 30 to 90 sec shutoff when a door actuator is earthed. That timer can be cancel through sticking the ignition to the "on" position.
Ive been workin on using that so called, timed power supply to power a relay which will activate me lights, now i just gotta get the central locking system in the loop some how to make the timed power supply react to it, im thinkin hook it into the door actuators somewhere. Its sad im a dam mechanic and i come home talkin bout cars wtf? lol |

you would think that for the price of that stupid lights on alarm, ford could have put in an automatic lights off feature like most jap cars of the same vintage

As you say, a relay using ign power is probably your best bet - you may as well include killing the headlights (high & low beam) as well. You can put a relay in the light s/w earth line and also the high/low beam switch earth line - will need a DPST relay, unless you can find the common point where both earth, then a SPST relay - or simply redirect both earth lines through the SPST relay. Using ign feed as the relay power, you should achieve what you want - the gregory's diagram isn't detailed enough - but it should kill the audible cluster warning as well. As you've no doubt realised, the issue of the engine stopping after doors are closed, etc only leaves you with the 1 hr BEM battery saver - the above relay setup can draw it's power through radio power or the green/yellow line of the interior lights, and this line is easiest accessed from the plug below and behind the radio.
Just some ideas . . . .

There are people who come on this site to solely s**tcan others - that's all they do, adding no value - Now THAT's sad . . .
