I fixed it in my old EF by getting a couple of washers (one for each side that'd torn out) and a hex bolt with a bigger head and bolted it back up, had no problems and the new owner hasn't either.

Chance of more info? Where did you place the washers?

40mins later, and my seat is fixed!
arc-welded the bastard - 2 of the bolts on the underside had snapped off, so we angled them back into place, and welded around the plates - so all done! 
anyone else in perth who is interested - assuming its the same thing w/ the 4 base plates (will get photos tonite if i can to show) - he is prepared to fix up others as well, for a small fee

well, he works during the day - so monday to friday, 9am-5pm pretty much!
