Horis i used to work in a ford service department too. The shifter surround pops out easily. The silver part with PRND+- has to have the console removed to be able to pull it out. |

Hey,
I've also had exactly the same problem on my car. The silver plastic parts on the shifter have bubbled. To all those speculating on which part has bubbled, if this guy has the same problem as me, it's the silver part with PRND that has bubbled, not the black surround part. Also the silver plastic part on the actual shifter has bubbled. I also have the same tapping at start-up from cold and a rattle in my exhaust at certain revs under load. Let me know what you find out about fixing these problems. Although my car is under warranty, I'm not sure what I can get done as I bought the car with these problems. Any help anyone? Thanks
