ok i have a BA Fairmont and the interior i think is a horrible browny grey looking colour and been thinking about changing the interior to the black.

Question is... Is it worth it? or is there an easier solution to having the black interior, rather then swapping the whole lot?

It all depends on how far you are willing to go, and what you want to spend.

The good news is with the BAs, everything's fairly easy to remove/replace, especially when it comes to dash trims. The majority just click in/out, so doing swaps is easy, provided you've got the $$$'s.

You may want to consider removing all your trims and investing in spray paint, primer and varnish to make the entire interior black and shiny. There are plenty of threads on this already.

so roughly how much $$$'s and where would i start with fining the interior.

painting the interior would be slighty dodgey wouldnt it?

I personally would never paint dash trims, as that's a cheap and nasty way to go about things, but some people like doing it because it's cheap!

If you want to REPLACE trims with the proper genuine Ford ones, which are black with shiny finish, then it'll cost you more, but look a million times better.

I'm guessing since you want black, you'd want Fairmont Ghia trims, like this picture.

Best place to start would be to ring FTG Auto Salvage, Darren should be able to chase it all up for you.

You could go through Ford spare parts, but be warned they are hideously expensive.

I have a nasty feeling that he is talking about a bit more than a few trim pieces......

I got a BF fairmont hire car a few months back and it had a really ugly tan coloured interior. My BAII Fairmont Ghia had a nice black interior. The different colours are throughout the interiors rather than a few trim pieces.

If that is the case, I would just either put up with it, or sell the car you have and buy one that has the colour interior you are talking about.

I reckon it'll be cheaper and far less ginning around in the long run!

Ok well so far the cost to change the interior excluding seats... i only want the brown colour gone.

so this will include the door trims and dash area as well and the center console and glove department area.

and so far i've been quoted $825 but thats wil XR door trims

just email ftg auto salvage and tell them what you want to do

You will need full set of seats, door trims, carpet, console, scuff trims, inner kick panel trims, Dash assembly

depends on what the wreckers like i know the wreckers i work or did work don't take them cause apparently of the law etc etc but they do consign parts so depends who and were you go. who knows see if they can do it cheaper like a exchange type of situation.

And boy i never realised how many small parts there is that i would need to change.. so im thinking this project will need to be done in bits and pieces but not installed untill i have all the pieces i need :)
But really how many of you have actually sat in your cars latley and had a reall good look at every corner of your car?
