Has anyone tried changing the front seats in a EL falcon, I'm interested in fitting VS commodore or later model front seats, as the EL ones in my opinion are crap, breaking seat bases and breaking headrest mounts....

me thinks you got a fat a**.lol

if you really want to change them you will need to weld the other seat base to the EL rails.

Ive bought 2 sets of seats for a EL interior both have had broken seat mounts plus broken headrest mounts, so to me this seems it must be a common occurrence thus why I would like to move away from using EL seats.

Apart from being in an accident, I cant see how you would break the headrest mounts. Unless you're listening to some heavymetal music and you're being a little too enthusiastic with your headbanging.

Where might I ask did you get your broken seats from? The wrecker? Check what vehicles they are pulling these seats out of.

My EL has 285k kms and the seats dont exhibit anything like you describe.

I have the same problem as madrose. The base has come loose and moves. Is it possible to repair or do I need to replace the seats.

Wreckers want $40 for a pair of front seats, is this reasonable? I have no idea on condition as the wreckers charge money to enter then refund on purchase.

I'd love to know if later model seats fit EL Fairlanes.

I just bought a NL Fairlane and the base was completely smashed. Both of the mounting points top and bottom for the adjustments of the squab have snapped away from the steel.
I either find more NL seats and pay for that to be retrimmed or update then retrim.
