3 mornings in a row i hav come out to find my car unlocked... the first morning i came out to go to werk and thort s**t forgot to lock my car no big deal... second morning i thort nah fuk that i locked it last night and made sure everything was still in it... then last night i made sure i locked it and made a point of remembering (good old reminder in the phone for 6am next morn
 ) and came out this morn and car was unlocked!!! no idea what is goin on... i just hope it doesnt do it when i park it somewhere not so quiet... fukn lose my ipod, head unit, CD's fukn everything!

Mine sometimes does that. I am certain I locked it and come back and s**t its unlocked.
Is it a faulty SmartLock pad, locks, door mechinisms etc? |

I swear I've had it happen too. But I've got an aftermarket alarm fitted, so I guess rule out smartlock. maybe lock mechanisms.

mine used to do that, probably done it about 3 times in the 9 years I've had it soo never really bothered about it. I heard it was a problem Ford did a recall on and replaced all the actuators......

My 98 EL was doing the same, but I actually caught it in the act. - I even say the locks bobbing up and down up and down. I spoke to my sparky and he said its quite common, and is linked to one of the four door lock motors, on its way out. Find the culprit and replace it - problem gone!

Yep, very common problem - my aunts fairlane has this and she replaced the drivers sdie aculator (sp?) and she rekons its fine now..
Ive never had it happen on either of my fairlanes tho, lucky i guess.

My 95EF does the same thing with the locks, positive I lock it and then find it unlocked. I caught it out one day, it locks then unlocks without setting the horn off. and it often goes stupid and goes through the lock/unlock routine until it decides what to do - I am fairly certain it only does that on hot summer days, it was ok for months and then started doing it again - the only thing that changed was the weather.
and it seems ok on cool rainy days we are having in sydney.

thats interesting, was replacing my indicators today and the reverse happened. the car was unlocked and then decided to lock itself, only reason I found this out was from the indicator i just put in, did the usual flash when the cars locked. I always thought my garage was pretty safe, maybe my ute thought otherwise...
As for why it did it, got me buggered, never happened before.

My ef xr6 did the same thing.....i noticed it only happened when my gf was around. i fixed the problem. i took back my spear keys she was holding which she had in her pockets and the keys would press against the button and unlock it.

mine sometimes does the oppisite, i will leave it unlocked and stand next to it for say 2-3 minutes and it will lock itself. just hope i never leave the keys in the car and then the car locks itself!

ok it will 'lock' itself if you unlock the doors and do not open any of doors. Dont believe me? try it yourself and you will see
