Hi all.Just wondering how you would go about repainting the red and blue arrow buttons on the climate control unit.Seems to be a common point of wear on the EF/EL units.Any ideas would be appreciated.
Also Is the EF unit interchangable with the EL?
Cheers!

Nope... Internals have slightly different electronics for the air flow control between the 2 units.

I personally just cleaned mine off when they started loosing there colour, I think it looks better clear, and it isnt really that difficult to tell that up means hotter and down means cooler :D .

You could try masking the triangles, and touch them up - thin as you can, as too much will probably drop the light level going through. You could lightly sand the triangle area, but be careful, you don't want to sand through the white translucent plastic underneath.

I remember the thread on this a while ago - this must be an issue fitting an EL unit to EF CC systems (black 94DA vacuum solenoid), as Ive tested EF dash units with EL CC systems, and they work fine airflow and electrically wise.

I have seen this too, right back to the XE Falcons. The XE had a big triangle, which east-west One was red and went on a 45 degree angle to the middle and went back up to the same way, but in blue (red=hot, blue= cold, but central was mild?)

Anyway, the red wore out, so I put a red sticker over the red area.

This little red triangle may be just painted over by a small brush very carefully.

The indicators do a similar way of fading as they are used a lot in the car whilst driving.

Thanks for your input guys.Perhaps I can use plastics paint to brush on the areas discussed.I happen to own a spare CC unit but is an EL model(grey buttons).Just wondered if it was compatible.Cheers!

Get turps and a rag onto the triangles and just rub the colour off it actually looks better than the colour, being white like the other buttons. You can still tell that the up trianle is hotter and down is cold..
