Say 'All XR8's are sprints' 3 times in front of a mirror and I devour your soul.
For free!

Kel, it sounds like you HAVE got a Sprint cluster!
Sprint tacho redlines at 5500.
Very bizarre!
Alot of the sprint specific parts got the word sprint marked on them.
bdennis has 'sprint' handwritten in texta on his ECU.

There are plenty of "sprint" people around that will personaly come and b!tch slap ya from a great height..

I did have the cluster out of mine a while ago and did not have Sprint hand written on it... Typical Ford...
It was my understanding that the EB/ED XR8 only had a 5000rpm red line and only the Sprint had 5500rpm redline.
How is the word sprint written on it.? Is it in blue or yellow texta? I guess it is possible that it has come via a wrecker...
My ECU has "XR8 Sprint" hand written in black fine pen..

It isnt written on the cluster - it is a white sticker, with a part number and says sprint.

Not sure how it would have made it from a wrecker to my car, as I am the 2nd owner, and I bought the car in 97. (the car was stock as a rock when I bought it)

But then again - my car was optioned with GT suspension so who knows what else they did to it when it ran through the tickford factory.

Wasn't the Sprint born out of surplus GT parts?
So if your car was originally optioned with the GT suspension, and you bought it unmodified from the original owner then a good chance the Sprint cluster was fitted at the factory.
