Hey everyone. Installed a trip computer in my EA with EL ecu last night. Functional except my L/100km and AVG L/100km is telling me between 72 and 99  Anyone had any experience with this? Any ideas? Dash loom is original EA only thing I got from ecu was the PWM output.

hopefully Troyman will give you a more accurate answer but what you do is you chop the original PWM wire from the back of the trip computer plug (Pin 5 - Green/Yellow) (Has to be cut there or it will interfere with other PWM reliant parts, solder a new wire onto the back of the trip computer plug where you cut the wire and tap it onto your PWM Injector Pulse on the ECU loom (Pin 58), then you will be back in business.

yep
the pwm is different from el to ea..
as above the wire that goes to pin 34 needs to be disconected.. now the wire from the trip comp is joined it into pin 58 injector pulse and your trip comp will work again..

Sweet, by the way it's an all new install, never had one before. This thing was supposed to be a fairmont. I've had to put elec windows, elec mirrors, central remote locking, everything in. All it had was aircon which I ripped out!

Why would you, the EF-EL Trip computer is a much better setup. I don't think it would be possible as the EF/EL receive the trip computer data in a different way to the standard.

Kyle, you are correct. The EL Trip Comp uses the DATA Line info, which is only found on the EF/EL ECUs.
