Hey this is an interesting one, what if I've done the
bbm conversion and running the EL ECU in my ED? I mean, that would probably work, but then you would get tings like it won't fit in the hole were ED on exists, and the plugs would be different, which would also need to be changed. It would be nice to do it, what with there modern looks and better lighting (I assume you want to change it so you can probably do the blue light conversion  ).

You could buy a GLi EF one at wreckers for about $40, so if you have some spare cash and want to muck around a bit, see if you can fit one. If you manage to fit it in there, do a bbm conversion, that will make it work as I believe it receives data from ECU, pin 34 I think, the EA-D PWM data wire (reason why trip computer won't work after doing BBM conversion.

Cheers,

MArk.

Just buy a ef/el...hahaha much easier.

On a serious note...anything can be done.....but would take a very very long time. You would need to do a lot of wiring changes. Plus the fact the shape is different also..which will cause mounting grief..

Ive heard the mounting is easy.... VEry close to the ED....if your running an EL ecu you will be sweet...just get the plugs from the wreckers and solder your wiring to them. then allows you to run an EF/EL trip comp... i was gonna do this in my car but i like my Digital dash way to much so ill just live with my trip comp being wrong with the EL EEC 5.

Hey ebfairmont3.9, you said your trip computer won't work with EL ECU?
Well, todays your lucky day, because I found out about two weeks ago, from FORMODS of course, that if you join the data line from trip computer to pin number 58 on ECU, which is injector PWM for bank 1, the instant fuel will work 100% :D

So what you do is cut the wire at pin 34, which is data out put link for all e-series, and join it at pin 58.

That then stops your trip computer beeping every time you turn the car on, telling you your nearly out of fuel, when in actual fact you have over half a tank!!

Hope this was of some help to you.

Cheers,

Mark.
