Another question...
I got the trims on fine. But the handle won't attatch to the rod. I know it has to be bent, but it's still too long. Did anyone have to actually cut the rod down a bit? It seems way too long otherwise.

Hi Mate
When I did my EF Fairmont trims last weekend I just bent the rods into new shapes. You really have to straighten it out first and then re-bend it, fit the handle in and test, take it out and bend some more and so on until you get it just right. Another option should be to go to the wreckers and get the correct rods from an ef/el and use those. I am very happy with my conversion and hope yours comes out just as good. Regards BenJ

The rods are a pain in the a***. I managed to bend them, but it was too tedious and the door handles feel iffy. So I'm going to get ef/el door rods. But how do you get them out?

I just went out and had a look at the parts car and it would seem the best way for the rear door would be to remove the central locking motor and the latch/lock assembly.
You would then have to bolt/rivet the central locking motor back in. The front should be easy. BenJ

Yeah, unfortunately, that's correct - you need to swivel the latch assy 90 degrees - undo the mounting bolt for the rear window channel in the front doors too.

Hey thanks for all the help. I have another question.
The electric mirror switch uses different connector types. How do I get this switch working with my EB mirrors? Or would it just be easier to buy EF/EL mirrors haha? Thanks

Hi Rob
Whether you use the EF/EL mirrors or your EB ones, you will need to cut join and solder the wiring to get them to work. With mine, I used the EB mirrors. I obtained the plug the goes in the EF mirror switch and then spliced that into the two plugs on the EB. Here is the small diagram I used to make up the new loom using the plug from the EF mirror switch and the two plugs from the EB.

Thanks heaps mate. That's awesome. So I should just cut the connector off an EF/EL from the wreckers and solder it according to the diagram.

I'm having trouble doing the power mirror switch conversion. Does anyone have more detailed information? The diagram has me stumped to be honest.
