If i install the resistor to the fairmont dash and the lights work on the lcd screen what happens if some time down the track i want to install the fairmont wiring harrness?

if you fit the fairmont loom then you will no doubt fit the high series BEM - in that case you would need to remove the resistor. You only need the resistor if you fit the fairmont cluster to a low or mid series loom/bem!
