My cousin has an EF GLI and i just got her a trip computer. I plugged it into the loom in the dash if you push a button the clock will illuminate but i get no lights with headlights and i can't change the clock or get into the trip comp. functions, what do i need to do to get it working properly????

theres a doco on this site under EF/EL detailing this conversion. you need to re-wire the pins and install a data line from the instrument cluster.

What you are seeing is the clock when the trip computer is in offline mode (no connection to instrument cluster). the trip computer is online when AM or PM is displayed, and the search button is operational.
