Does anybody know where the central locking is earthed on a 1998 EL Gli wagon? Mine has gone haywire - locks go up and down until I take the fuse out. :? :javascript:emoticon(':?')
Confused?

no it keeps doing it until I take the fuse out. I just discovered a couple of inches of water in the taillights, so might be shorting it out. I'll try and empty them out first, then try actuator if not (whatever they are). Thanks for reply. :)

mine did the same thing except the drivers door didnt go up and down, changed the actuator(motor to unlock/lock remotely) in the drivers door fixed the problem. picked mine up from the wreckers for $40.don't go to an auto elec they will charge you more than that to even look at it.

Being a wagon it can be one three master type door actuators, the tailgate, drivers door and the front passenger door is a master even thou their isn't any door barrel or an interior lock knob etc.

The tailgate actuator can fail but normally no adjustment is needed if replaced, Ford had us making adjustments on the front actuators for years using a fridge magnet with measurements on it, they still ended up failing LOL

BTW the rear door actuators are slaves, they can not cause the locks to cycle, when they fail you just have to hope they failed when unlocked not locked with child lock set LOL
