Hey Guys,
Hope everyone had a great weekend tinkering with your cars. lol 1. Sun Visors seem to hang down a little, sort of like the spring is not holding it properly anymore. Is there anyway to fix this? As it is rather annoying 2. Been having problems with my Blend Door Motor for 8 months now. I've replaced the Control Unit, the Blend Door Motor and Body Control Module. I've been told the EEC has some part in the control of this device. Should I look at replacing the EEC as well? Does anyone have an EEC for sale for a EL Ghia? Thanks, John. |

just so you know, EL Ghia ECU codes are 6DJA, 6DJB, and i think there is a 6DJC.
did the code E2 come up in your climate control when the blend door motor shat itself?

Yeah it did, and I tested the device on it's own and it worked fine. I however couldn't live without heat and I replaced it. After about 2 weeks it went again. I replaced both the Blend Motor and Climate Control Unit again. It again went after about a week. I lost interest in it after all the trouble of constantly pulling the dash out and buying blend door motors. I'm desperate now as Winter is getting here and it gets damn cold out this way. |

haha im in the same boat, my blend door motor hasnt been working for a while, shame because my heaters rocked before that... im trying to source another one to replace it... but at the same time i cbf taking my dash out. lol

Awh, that sucks Alfy
 I just don't understand it, I know heaps of people with EF and EL's and they have not had any problems and there cars have higher kms. I'm puzzled as to why. I have 1 more blend door motor left but I don't want to install it cause I cannot afford to keep replacing them. Hence why I'm asking all you guys for any suggestions. I would like a bit more knowledge on the EEC and what part it plays. |

The EEC has no control over the blend door motor, its only the CC unit.
Have you tried a climate reset, as this will recalibrate the blend door motor. Other possibilities is there is a problem in the heater box itself. Maybe the door/rod is actually broken (this has happened before- motor is working, but door is not opening and closing) or its sticking, causing the motors to fail. As for the sunvisors, time to buy new ones. It happens over time. |

Do the blend door motors work if you hook 12v directly to it?
I find it hard to believe that so many die so soon

They work fine when powered with 12v directly.
I have pulled one apart and replaced every resister and diode and put it back together and it still don't work properly. Who knows? |

I have heard of a couple of instances where the wiring plug that goes into the Climate Control unit is not making proper contact causing Blend Door Motor issues.

You can cycle the motor from the CC unit plug by swapping polarity, should be able to hear a slight thud when it reaches full travel, this tells you the arm is moving also - also you should check the potentiometer output just to make sure the CC unit is getting what it expects. The doco gives you the wires.Try slightly bending the CC unit pins for the BDM motor and pot connections to give a better connection.

run the diagnostic in the tech docs page documents.php?d=9 and see what codes come up. i did the same thing and i had a E6 evaporator sensor error. replaced the sensor and the error code was still there so i replaced the ECU and the error went away. so depending on the error it could be ECU related.
