I noticed the other day and since that the drivers window does not go down until you wait a while, like about the time it takes for the darn thing to reset after the swtch accidentely stays down too long (saftey cut out thing i've read about)

Any who, you can hear the motor try to go up (when up) if you try that, but not down? And i know it wasn't locked down to trip safety. Also if you turn car off, it works, then on again, it works. Seems to be while it sits a while it fouls up?

Any clues?

Sounds like the switch is the problem not the motor assembly.

The switch contacts do regularly collect soot/carbon (particularly but not limited to the up contacts). Strip them down and give them a clean with metho and cotton wool buds.

I had the same issue and found the switch had worn a bit and the switch moved to far back what fixed me was a small bit of cardboard under the switch or better still you can get them on Ebay for under $30
