wtf is my car then. everything about it says xr6 bar the power windows it doesn't change anything im just curios as too why the model number doesn't match up. and it cant be xc its says oct 95

Maybe the electric windows were removed for some reason...pull the trim off...see if the window assembly still has the 3 original rivets in the door or if there is evidence of the motors being removed...

it probably has had them removed. i have pulled the cup holder out and i cant see any wires there. but that doesn't explain why the engine model doesnt match anything

go see your local ford dealer and ask them to put the VIN in and see what comes up.

18633 is an EF series 2 GLI this is straight from the GENUINE workshop manual. :D

looking at your id plate, XR6 motors are supposed to be identified as the letter "X", yours says H, which is a standard 4.0ltr motor.
and if your car is a factory manual than it should say "K", and your id plate reads "W" which is a 4 speed floor shift auto.

According to the vin number it is gli sedan standard 4 litre motor 4 speed floor shift AUTO:shock:

mother f**k. why go through all that effort? why not just buy an xr6. it doesn't make me like my car any less
im still going to fords to see what they say. does that mean i can get into trouble with my insurance and rego

its not strange, it happens all the time.
you can ring ford and give them your vin no. and they will tell you exactly what it is.
