Was in my local Ford dealership today, and they had a Ford Fire extinguisher sitting on display, being a Ford nut I could not help myself...I pulled out the cash and took her home.

Now to my dilemma, where to mount it..has anyone mounted one into a Ba Bf???

If yes where and how?? Any pictures would be appreciated as I do not want to bolt it into my car and then see a better spot at the next car show...

Some probably think this is a lame thread, but it is important to me, I was thinking under the parcel shelf or on the inside of the boot near the boot release latch. But for easy access the inside of the cab would have to be the go....

Also bought the genuine Ford First Aid kit, both overpriced but cool to have in the car, hoping never having to use either item, but if the need arises will be good to have

may i suggest going to a wrecker and getting another console (so not to drill holes and mount and then deside to sell later on (although you could also get another console then)

I have seen may of fire extinguishers mounted from race to rice.... how big is it? one suggestion is to mount it vertically near the passenger side mounted onto the console. or in a similair spot diagonailly.

Or another spot for suggestion is on the transmission / tailshaft hump behind the console..

but are you willing to drill mount to the sill or chassis.. just put it in various spots that look obious

Mate all good suggestions, considered the console idea, getting a spare.., just tying to get some more ideas...

Its only one of those car sized ones...about 1KG or there abouts from memory (its out in the garage).

Have done the hold it into various places, but undecided will sleep on it and will post up photos once its done...

I put mine in front of the passengers seat. Still has plenty of foot room and enough space for the seat to be moved all the way foward. Bit more accessable there then in the boot or something as well.

Cool, did you self tap it to the floor??

I was going to put it onto the kick panel but not enough room.

Mine is about the same size as yours (fire extinguisher that is  )

Good to see a photo, a picture tells a 1000 words :!:

PS what are the gauges on top of the dash, they look good.

Just curious... how would you go about mounting the fire extinguisher to the floor if you've got floor mats?

I've got my extinguisher mounted on the passenger side of the console, screwed straight into the plastic bit. Situated so the seat still moves fine.

You need one if you do any track racing, and for competition on car audio comps (it's 'free' points).

Mine is secured with a nut and bolt through the floor (nut and bolt is a requirement for CAMS, a self tapping screw won't do). Gauges are from Pole Position Auto.

Why not put it in the boot?

just ruins the interior in my opinion

In was considering that originally, but how often do you sit in the boot when your car catches on fire :?:

Before you say how often does your car catch on fire......

I have had it happen to me twice with old cars and car alarms....once in a 1969 GT Cortina with a Rhino car alarm, and once in an XB Coupe with a Cobra car alarm, both times the wiring harness got fried and the whole car needed re-wiring.

I know this is a BF but you never know what will happen, so my idea was to keep it handy ie within reach of the drivers seat.

But I am always open to suggestions :)

i might have to shift mine from the boot to inside the car some where.

As mentioned the boot is pretty useless place for a extingisher. Car is burning, you'd better hope your electrics still work so you can open the boot.

Also for various racing categories and other events, you need one in reach of the driver. So interior it is.

They aren't that obtrusive, once you've had it for a while you no longer notice it.

ive got mine mounted just at the front of the drivers seat. its very unobtrusive and doesnt obstruct seat movement.

Hi mate

I've seent them mounted on the drivers seat so that it sits sort of under your knees and is really easy to grab. i guess if it was mounted to the seat it would move with it

Sorry if this is a rude question but just how overpriced was the extinguisher.

cheers
Ben
