The bit in the front grille that holds the Ford logo.

Mine is all crappy looking. Gravel chips, sun damage, the grey paint is all cracked and flaky and generally unpleasant. I'm planning to tidy it up and paint it. This is probably the only modification I'm really planning to make to the car. (Although that f**k LED dash thing keeps haunting me.)

It's a GLi, so the strip is grey at the moment. It's the only part on the entire exterior that's grey, which is kind of odd. I was wondering, rather than spraying it grey again, what could I do with it?

I figure body-colour would be nice (like Sapphires/Futuras), but I don't know that I can get my hands on a decent paint match. I live in rural NSW, and I'm in no hurry to order paint via a paint code over the phone.

I figure black would look s**t, because it'd look like the Ford logo is hovering in the middle of a gaping black space.

Any ideas? On either what to do with the strip, or where I could get Bermuda Green metallic paint that'd be a passable match without having to drive for half a day?

Whee.

The real question is: Why did I put this under interior mods and not exterior mods?

If anyone's feeling diligent, they can shift it.

A good way around this, which a few others have done, and I plan to do real soon, is to remove the middle "strip" from the black surround, and to put mesh around it instead. Then, just remove the badge from the strip, and mount it to the mesh.

$20 isn't really a big deal, but I'm pretty sure I can clean up the one I have.
