do you remove the old locks and have them in place or do you have to attach them to the locking bar via a joiner with the grb screws in it?

Fitted a pair of aftermarkets (2 x masters) to my ute today - what a difference !!!
From a groaning sound (both never seemed to work in sync either), to a straight 'clunk clunk' when the keyfob is pressed twice, big transformation.

Wasn't really that difficult to install either :P . . .

Hi kday.
I was just about to post a thread asking questions about the central lockng on my ED which has started to play up like you said in your first post. ie. lock/unlock cycling. I can now only lock or unlock the car via the key in the driver door so i suspect the master has given up the ghost. Bloody pain in the a***!!
Will this kit work on my car? If so, thanks for the information.

Most kits I've had a look at are the same - 4 x actuators (usually 1 master/3slave) + relay unit + wiring + mounting hardware.
The actuators can be fitted to the existing ford actuator mounting brackets.

A lot of the existing door wiring can be used.
Might have to put a guide together if none is forthcoming.

i hate the locks how that they are slow and noisy i constantly get people lifting the door handle before they have finished unlocking cause every other car we get into is straight up and straight down. everytime my locks stuff up and goup and down for 5 mins i feel like booting the car till it stops (lol short temper with the car)

i just cant wait

Yeah been there done that with my ute (groaning & cycling) - when I finished mine, I think I stood there for 20 mins locking/unlocking - what a sweet sound :P .

You really will be amazed.

I installed a dash locking switch like the sedans/wagons have too . . . :P

For wagons you'll have to buy another actuator as most kits only have 4 . . .

doco is up guys

woo hoo

admire my awesome paint skills in the BEM wiring diagram
hopefully you can understand it all, its really not hard, and you can't really stuff it up unless you connect the wires wrong, but thats easy fixed

have fun

also: for people with wagons you can buy an extra lock seperately to the kits

Well done Kris.

Dispells the myth that it can't be done.

This makes the reply to actuator fault threads easy - Replace with aftermarkets. :P

EDIT: Most kits are nearly identical in wiring and hardware - you can pick up brand new units from Ebay at around $20 - $25 (incl post), if you're shrewd with your bidding . . . . :P
