You need high series BEM and dash wiring, I know I've changed mine from a gli to a fairmont ghia (cruise, climate control, trip computer, electric aerial, premium sound complete, electric windows etc) a long job but well worth it :D :D

Yes just change the LHS plug to two plugs, but make sure you get them with the cluster otherwise you will find it hard to source them. Coming from a GLi you will need to install an oil pressure sender in place of the switch. Then as said you need to either go to a high series BEM or add a resistor to the cluster so you have a odo display when your lights are on. You will probably then need to add in the door ajar switches and bulb out warning wiring to make use of the new dash features.

No the wiring is direct from the loom to the cluster plug, you will have to change the 20 pin to a 16 and 12 pin plug. You need a small screw driver to unclip each pin to move it to the new plug or you can just cut and splice them.

The 16 pin you can find behind an AU cluster. The 12 pin you might have trouble finding.
