my friend has a EL Futura and his inside lights dont come on when he opens the doors. but you can turn them on manually by the switch where you turn on your lights.

is it all the doors? or just one?

if its just one door, that switch on the indside of the door near the hinge might be jammed or broken..

Have a look at http://img135.echo.cx/my.php?image=inte ... ing8da.jpg - disregard the two relays I've added (park lamp and the one inline to the dome light switch - this was in reply to a previous thread. The line goes from the lighting straight to the terminal marked "dome light" in the light switch. So when you switch on the interior lights using the light switch, all you're doing is providing an earth.

1. As previously mentioned, check all doors by opening them, if light comes on, problem lies with the affected door courtesy light s/w, if not, go to 2.
2. Shouldn't be a fuse or power issue, as you say the lights can be switched on by the light s/w - prove this by turning on one of the reading lights on the dome light - should work as advertised. If not check CRTLP fuse, if okay, will be possible wiring fault.

3. If you've reached this step, it isn't looking good - fault may lie in the blue/black wire and it's connections, returning to the BEM from the interior lighting, or in the blue/black wire and it's connections, coming back to the BEM from the courtesy light door switches, or the fault may lie with the BEM (which seems to be a popular item lately).

You might also want to ask your your friend whether any work has been done around or near this system lately - may have affected this.

Hope this helps . . . . .

I just gazed into the crystal ball

If you look at the wiring diagram I've posted, you'll notice the glovebox light cct goes straight to earth from it's switch, bypassing the BEM and that area, as does the dome light reading lights, that's why I've said step 3 isn't looking too promising . . . . . .
