Ey guys, installed rear console light in EL gli, it works fine, all lgihts were working, parkers, headlights etc. Then when i started the engine my spedo lights went, icons for the A/C, gear shifter light P,R,N,D,3,2,1, and parkers,hazards/blinkers.
I checked the fuses, fuse 20A parkers & hazards is blown. Does this fuse cover all the lights i mentioned that arnt working?

Does anybody have any idea why this fuse has blown, when i started the car after i installed the rear console light?
Thanks

Hell - Wish someone could help you out alright...! Seems like an easy one - You've got a wiring fault in your new section of wire, or have failed to insulate (created a "short") somewhere along the way.

But then again, I could be wrong.

I don't quite get why all the lights would work fine and then fry when you hit the starter motor! There must be something worthy of a small fire going on?!!!

(Says he who started a fire in rear of wagon when installing a reversing camera...)

Best of luck with it - NONE of my lights work at all unless I manually turn them on. I am sure they're meant to turn on when you open a door?!

Whatever! At least my DVD player lights up in the dark now.

G'day mate, doubt this will be much help seeing as though I don't have a clue bout EL's, but meh
I would say that that fuse would cover all those lights and that you probably have a wiring issue with the new section you put in.
If possibe try dissconnect what you've just put in and see if it blows, if not then triple check what youve just wired in.
Hope it helps - probably not though :)

There would have been very few that could have diagnosed that for you (Snap springs to mind).
