no it is not legal, something about having hot liquid entering the drivers cabin or something.

Correct!

Only electrical gauges are legal in the cabin.

lol, doesn't it bother you that you have oil coming into the cabin? Even if it was legal, I would convert to electrical means... I never knew they had such gauges, but yeah.. must be strange.

Cheers

Why would you want oil coming into the cabin? Doesnt tht sound a little dangerous to anyone but me? Surely electrical would be better.

if you have mechanical they must be mounted outside the vehicle, and they must run the braided line, this is what a cop has told me

I had mechanical gauges in my old escort, and it passed rego  go figure. But yeah, run them on the outside and cover the line.

probably because they had different standards when the car was built and that means it is still legal for "that" car today, ie lack of seat belts in anything prior to what ever the date it is and so on.

Perhaps have it fitted outside the cabin in front of the windshield? The it'd be legal wouldn't it?

I thought gauges mounted on the cowel were illegal as it will do more damage to a pedestrian should run them over, dumb rules but it was what i have been told.
