My next mod i want to do is in-build some LCD's into the head rests with each of them having their own dvd player so that people can watch dvd's. But i want to get this dash mod done first.

Tackle one mod at a time grasshopper or you'll end up like me with a 4 half finished projects that take 18 months to finish!

re: flexing and cracking, I recommend making up a thin wire frame out of coathanger or similar and epoxy it across between the 2 pieces you're joining.

Well i have got nearly all the facia boging done. Because i have used plastic bog and not body filler it has a bit of flex in it.

next thing i have to do is the bottom two corners of the lcd. Do something about covering up the sides and back of the LCD.

I have decided to put the buttons for the LCD under it. I think it looks ok but i didnt really have any other options. I though of steering wheel mounted but it would be totally useless there and i am installing cruise just before i leave for my trip at the end of the year.

Its not a great picture but gives an idea.

Another picture

I have put it in place (in the car) and i have to cut the bottom right hand corner off so it will fit in the slot there.

I have to sort out something to hold it in place. Any suggestions people????
Like i have the LCD in place but there is nolonger a hole to put a screw in and what ever is on the RHS wasnt there when i got the car. So im thinking ill have to design a ball type clip. E.g. on the LCD have a Ball coming off the back. On the car side of things have a tube with 4 cuts in it so that it can expand and contract, basically changing the diameter. Then just to make that all cool have a round metal clip on it that keeps it contracted. Had to explain but yeah..

So im looking for ideas in that department.

I also made the wires for the buttons longer. :)

Neatness ? Completion ? Fordmodders crave not these things

:P

The ball clips are probably the best way to go, unless you're sure you'll never need to get back in behind there, and if that's the case then what sort of fordmodder are you ?

I retained the factory mounts in mine, you can see them in this shot but when it's mounted they're not visable unless you're upside down in the footwell.

Image

you have to use a right angled screw driver bit to get in up behind the screen to do them up but thats no drama. You may not be able to get away with it though with yours being a little longer + having the buttons at the bottom. If you've cut off that section that doesn't help either!

Is it possible you could stop teasing me with that PERFECT mod??? Naa just kidding.

I am thinking of designing my own ball type clip or similar.

I would have liked to keep the original clips and that but it wasnt an option seeing as the screen is a 8.3".

You sonething about a right angled screwdriver....i am thinking a tab of metal that joins another and that way u can put a screw in that and everythings ok and hidden.

I may look into that idea.

And yes i am a fordmodder so i wont glue it in.

What else can i mod??????? hint hint

I have thought about how ill attach the LCD in place.

I am currently designing a clip system that is spring loaded. What you do is just push it in place.

When you want to release you simple put your hand under the LCD and pull 2 clips together.
