i've put a el cluster in the eb and hooked it up however the tacho reads 1600 at about 2000, then about 3000 at about 4500, but the idle revs are about right any ideas on wat is going on there? just to cancel out some things i ran a jumper wire from the coil straight to the tacho input in the cluster and still doing the same. also is there a input for the temp sender cause i can't find one.

The EF/EL tacho gets its signal from the ECU rather than from the coil on the older EA-ED clusters. I guess you are in the s**t ditch with this one as you are using a wolf ecu.

surely there would have been someone by now who has put a el dash in eb worked it out! or plan b make a new cluster up but that can be expensive also 410 bucks just for a autometer speedo plus fuel and temp and tacho!

I cant see any reason that you couldnt just change the drive head on the EF dash to the one from an EB?

More detail about your install would definitely help, e.g. are looms changed, is the wolf piggyback to the std ECU?, etc.
EA-ED's run the tacho input off the pink/blue line off the dizzy TFI module - this is essentially the coil -ve line (this is why the tacho's are 6 or 8 cyl specific - EF/EL's aren't). EL's run the tacho line off the TFI yellow/green line - which goes to the EL ECU pin 36.
So hook up to the yellow/green line in your EB - it will be pin 36 on your old EB ECU plug - this will save running another wire through the firewall - should solve your problem.

EDIT: Do not change components between the EB/EL cluster circuit boards - the circuitry is different, and you have no way of knowing whether your swaps will cause damage.

NP. You won't hear of too many problems as these type of conversions usually include EF/EL wiring and an EL ECU.

Have you got pics of how the EL instrument cluster fits in the EB dash?

This sounds interesting.
