I have just put a NF fairlane cluster in to my EF fairmont. Problem is when i have the parkers on the bulb out keeps coming up. I have changed the globes & check the wiring and still the same problem. The bulb out works fine for the brake lights just not the parkers.
Any help would be good. Cheers rick |

Swap the park light wires around on the bulb out plug on the cluster rear.

I have tried swapping the pins around still get buld out on parkers. I have checked everything over and over again still the same problem happens. Any ideas ? Brake works fine.

Polarity of the wires generally cause this. Does the brake light bulb out work as per when a bulb is out.

No soon as i turn the parkers on it will crack the s**t. I have used the wires in the RH foot well brake wire from the big white one and parkers from the big black one.

Sorry for the short answer mate. I cut the brake wire in the white connector then run one wire to the bulb out active and the other wire to the bulb out rear brake lights. The wire on the black connector i cut the parkers wire and wired that to the bulb out active and the other to the bulb out tail lights. Do u think that only runs 1 light not the 2 ? Do you think it might be easier if i run 2 wires from the back of the stop/tail light plugs up to the bulb out feature. Now i have just had a play with it when i have the parkers on and press the brake pedal bulb out comes up for 3 seconds. i have checked the wires both brake are wired up where the supose to go to. I have pulled the globe out of the left hand side and the bulb out wont pick up the brake light out. But if i pull the globe out of the right hand side it comes up bulb out.

Isn't the bulb out for Brakes and Headlights? not parkers?

Nope, one for brakelights, and one for rear parkers(incl number plate lights).
The plug has 4 wires, 2x red/green, which go inline into the brakelights, 2 x brown, which go inline into the rear parklight line, they are polarity conscious, so if the caption comes on all the time, reverse the leads for that circuit. You might've tapped into the parkers line to the fronts also, hence it coming on.

I think the problem is solved for now. I went out and got 2 new globes put them in and disconnected the left hand side loom and push the brake pedal Bulb out came out & the same for the parkes. Plugged it back in and it's now fine. Only thing i can think of is may be the globes were on there way out they were pretty black so they were ready to blow. Thank you so much for your help mate. Now to reset the odometer to what my car has. If you desolder the chip how hard is it to stuff it up ? And if u use a police odometer chip will i gain my speedo on the fairlane cluster.

If you're not confident with the Eprom, let an electronics repair shop do it.
No, you'll just get the kms with that Eprom.

I just want to check in the factory ford manual the bulb out pins are different to the setup on the plug.
factory book says Pin1 - brake switch (top connector) Pin2 - park relay (top connector ) Pin3 - brake lights (bottom connector ) pin4 - tail lights ( bottom connector ) my plug has this setup Pin1 - brake switch (top connector) Pin3 - park relay (bottom connector ) Pin2 - brake lights (top connector ) pin4 - tail lights ( bottom connector ) Is this the right setup or is the ford manual wrong. Use the colours I've mentioned earlier.
If you're using an actual plug out of a Fairlane. 50/50 chance you get them the wrong way, swap them over.
