You'd be better off running the whole top loom from a futura/fairmont which has the additional wire.

The GLi body loom connects to the roof loom on the drivers side pillar at the rear near the parcel shelf, the 3 wires trace up to there which consists of Interior light power and constant power (for map lamps.)

Most wreckers would charge you about $20-30 for the loom and 2 rear passenger lights.

The Fairmont dome lamp (with map lights) is a direct fit, the Fairlane one also fits, but you'll need the mounting plate.

When fitting the loom to GLi, you'll need to cut the roof lining for the larger light and the rear passenger lights.

i have the light and mounting plate, but no 3 pin plug for the nf/nl light. i see it has 3 brass pins there for the plug i dont have and was just going to solder or put individual terminals on them..... but i need to know which of the standard gli wires (one blue one green) go where? can it be done without a loom from the wreckers? btw i have a wagon and dont really want the 2 passenger courtesy? lights.

Just a cut & paste from a post many moons ago:

The mid series light is basically the base light with the two reading/map lights tacked on the front - there are two green/yellow wires supplying power for each (dome light/reading lights) - simply join them together and attach to the car's green/yellow wire. There is only one black/blue wire - join this to the car's black/blue wire, this controls the dome light and goes through the BEM to allow fading (mid and high series BEM's). The reading lights are controlled by their respective on/off switch, which earths power through the light assy frame.
Mounting either light assy is via 4 screws.
You shouldn't need any extra looms to fit - use a meter to figure out what goes where. Add a wire with crimp connectors to a mounting screw for the reading lights earth.

The Black wire need to ground to the body.
The other two go to the BEM.
