Hi all

The title says it all - I have an EA II with Tibb locks and 2 keys. Can I take the ign barrel out of this car and put it in my ED with smartlock?

Why I want to do this is because I would then have the same locks as before and the two keys I have wouldn;t have to come off our keyrings.

Cheers
RD

if you choose to use the non smartlock barrel and keys you will nee to go buy a smartlock buypass, if you dont and you use the non smartloack keys the car will not start.

Ah, thanks Bunter. I'll just go with another key then...eventually. I take it I can just grab one from Ford?

Cheers

Getting another key cut would be the easiest option - I have seen them on Ebay, and they will cut it for you, wasn't too expensive from memory.

Ring ford for a comparison price.

I'm pretty sure the key ign cylinders will swap across - ask Benj if he doesn't reply.

Yes, you can use the actual Key Barrel from a smartlock ignition in a non smartlock ignition, so I see no reason why it wont go the other way. The smartlock part has nothing to do with the actual key barrel.

Cheers
