Hey lads

About an hour ago i turned my car off when i got home, took the key out, and noticed that all the accessories were still going. Puzzled, i tried turning the key on and off and remove again, but to no avail.

I then tested the ignition switch, and its fine, i even unplugged it, and the acc still stayed on. I pulled out the acc fuse, still going, pulled out the acc relay, still going, W T F.

With all power cut for acc, it all still stayed on. So i pulled out the CRT fuse, and it all stopped.

So, has my BEM got some s**t problem?

Thanks dude. Your gear boot should be in this arvo.

You won't f**k believe this, it has to be the bem, but still want confirmation.

After reading what you posted, i tested the wipers. Now, obviously because the acc are stuck on, the smartlock remotes won't work, and the smartlock light was not blinking.

When i turned the wipers on, they did not go, BUT, the smartlock light started blinking, and the remotes worked. ?????????????????? AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

Ok, got me a high series bem this morning, and just fitted and tried programming to these instructions,

Quote:
# 1. Turn all accessories off.
# 2. Turn the ignition to the On position.
The Smartlock warning Jewel (LED) will flash any error codes, then finally the immobilised code.
# 3. Leave the car for 30 Minutes.
# 4. After 30 Minutes, the BEM will attempt to relearn the electronic lock assembly data.
# 5. If the learning procedure is successful, the warning jewel (LED) will then stop flashing and the door locks will change state twice. You can now start the car, and operate it as normal.
# 6. If the learning procedure is unsuccessful, the warning jewel (LED) will stop flashing and stay on, and you can start the engine.

That is straight from the tech doc. Anyway, i left my car for the time, but it indicated the learning n process was FAIL. The car started, but the light is not on when car off, and it stays on when started, after displaying a 3 flash code.

What does this mean??? What is the problem and how do i fix it? Is smartlock now disarmed?

Ok, so when i pull the wiper fuse out, everything works as it should except these 2 points,

- Obviously without a fuse the wipers won't work
- The radio still stays on when turned off at the key,

Everything else works properly. I tried another wiper switch/blinker stalk assembly, but no different.

Could this be an ECU problem???

Nope, don't think it will be ECU as it has nothing to do with that side of it.

I would be checking the wiring on the column etc for shorts.

Thanks ben, i'm thinking its isolated to there aswell.

The symptoms are telling me faulty relay, but it still doesn't fit the bill exactly, i have tried 2 acc relays, and both work fine. Does the wiper circuit have its own relay?

I'm going to test the rear demister circuit now, as it is in the same acc circuit, and uses the wiper fuse.

the wiper cicuit runs off the bem i also recon check all wires between stalk and bem then if you extended the wiper motor wires id be checking those (engine bay)

BTW worked out the horn (white to blue on bem, red to green wiper stalk)

On further testing, the demister circuit works when the wiper fuse is is and the demister relay is in, but with the demister relay out, the terminals test funny, the negative terminal seems to cut half the voltage, but with the wiper fuse out, it jumps back to 12v.

The wiper, radio/cig, and acc relay fuses all only have 9v going through them, but the rest have 12v. These fuses and systems all get there power from the 1 pos line from the acc output on the ign barrell, however at the ign barrell, the acc is outputing 12v. Also, when the ign barrell is unplugged, all the problems remain, including the acc's staying on/smartlock not working whenever the wiper fuse is in.

If this is making sense to anyone, please let me know. I'm calling it a day for now, maybe after a sleep my head may be clearer.

If its not the BEM then it has to be something simple, i must be just missing it. Tomorrow will tell.

Thanks for replys so far.

Andrew.
