hey guys.
i've got another thread going on my interior progress: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/november ... 72523.html

I have a spare PS2 sitting in my bedroom cupboard, never see's any game time.
I was thinking of mounting my PS2 in the glove box, to accompany the dvd player i bought recently.

how would i power the PS2?
any suggestions would be helpful.

thanks

Is is a slim PS2 of a fat PS2? If it is a fat PS2, you will need to get a power inverter, to give you 240v for the power cord. can be a tad bulky.

A slim PS2 might be easier. It does not have an internal power supply, do they use an external power adapter ffor it to run. That means that they are already DC powered. You would just need to get a power adapter (which can be bought from Jaycar, DSE etc). They were 8.5v, 5.6A.

Do you have a PAB? If not, get a PAB dash, and mount it where the PAB is.

check out my garage thread... ive done this with a small power inverter...

the slim ps2 use 9.5 volt and is very hard to convert from 12 (14.4)

the power inverter cost around $40 it only needs to be small as the ps2 does not pull mush current at all

Hey mate if you have a look on ebay there's the cable to do exactly that for about $20, otherwise your going dc to ac then back to dc. Also the cheap inverters have been known not to use pure sign wave, resulting in potential damage, to some items, whether a playstation would be fine I'm not sure but I'd do a little research before throwing in a cheap one.

Mate I'd personally flog the big f**k on ebay and hit up your local cashies for one of the slimlines then grab a converter off ebay, I know I ended up making money changing my bulky f**k for a slimline this way.
