There really isn't to many options, unless you want to do some serious custom fab work.

A lot of people will tell you it's a poor choice blah blah and I was a bit worried going into it but the final result is great. Looks fine and with mine you can put the CD in with the gear in park. I'm told that there is very limited cheap options. You can't remove the stock head unit because it's tied in with the electronics that run gauges and climate ETC.

Good luck,

Tyler

just as a guide mine was installed cost me $150 to have the pocket created and instal head deck, install rear speakers mount wire up and tune amp. They supplied all wiring except rca cables. If you shop around its cheap

$150 is a damn good deal.

It cost me more than that to do it myself. (I did buy a spare tissue box holder that I could mutilate @ ~$86)

I've got mine in the tissue box holder and i haven't had any drama's with it. I had the line converters done 1st but they sounded like crap compared to a head unit and you have barely any adjustments. The only down side to putting a head unit in is losing the steering wheel controls, but you get over it

Depending on the head unit model you can get converters to still use the steering wheel controls.

I however haven't missed mine.

hey guys

Im sure my mate next door is running a full system on his BA Factory Xr6 head unit.

I think you just need hi low converters? and you need a amp which can do the conversion??

i think, i think this is the case.

i know his running dual 12inch subs and 2 amps, aftermarket front and rear speakers, also...

might be worth the investigation to use factory unit, might save some $$$ on the purchasing of the new head unit.

Cheers

the factory deck is s**t. get an aftermarket h/u in the tissue box. i put a pioneer h/u in my ba, has 3 x rca's to run my amps, and an ipod cable to attach the ipod through the aux menu. snipped all the speaker cables from the main plug and rewired to the new deck. if i could id take the stock ba deck out and burn it i would, it sucks so bad. it doesnt even read mp3's! when will ford update their music technology to a decent level? a pox on the standard ba deck, and a curse on those that enjoy its limited capabilties....

FG gets mp3 compatibility, although I do agree the BA should have had it.. but then, the mp3 standard is over 15 years old, so it could be argued that Falcons right the way back to the ED should have had mp3 decks.

No one was doing it 15 years ago.

Falcons should've got it as soon as Hyundai started doing it.

But even so, the fact they've dived in quality of the speakers used is appauling, the Pioneers in my EL were of much higher quality than the Panasonic crap used by the 'premium' system in my GT-P. Just changing the speakers to good ones resulted in a huge improvement in SQ - but I continued and replaced everything.

so yea if you want a decent sound system in a ba tear out everything stock you can without screwing up any other parts of the car, burn it, and then start from scratch. i put a pioneer h/u, with a jbl 4 ch amp running mtx front splits, jbl 5 x 7 rears, and a pioneer 380 watt rms amp running my twin 10" subs. makes a fair amount of thump, and gets noticed. was tempted to go further, but i want to hear my music not go deaf lol
