today i fitted a FPV starter button to my ute (ill try to get pics in gallery 2moro)

BUT the red circle does NOT light up :?

the ute starts perfectly
- it doesnt start with the twist of key :) you need to twist key then push button :) so thats all good
- most importantly the starter button is "off" when the ute is on... so theres no chance of the starter motor starting if somebody presses the button while im driving :)

currently the wiring is as follows...
i wired up 2 of the wires in a series. after the ignition switch and before the starter relay... so the push button is joining the path between them, thus starting ute
Image
and the final (3rd) wire is of course ground.

of course the wiring to start the ute is correct, but is it correct to light the starter button light?

thanks, matt

no... there's no extra wires for it (on button).. im pretty sure there is a 12V coming from the ignition switch...

maybe i have to wire it in somehow to accessories?

I cant imagine the ignition switch has a huge amount of voltage/current going from it, sounds like what you will have to do is run a +positive accessories wire from somewhere thats always on, like the cigarette lighter, should be plenty to power that light in there.

Although its weird that the switch doesn't have separate terminals for the light, seems to be the sensible thing to do. :S

does the light come on when the buttons pressed?
you might need to reverse the two wires you got joining the starter circuit
