Long story short, seat belt has retracted the whole way just about and is now to short to install back in my car, I'm haveing trouble I guess puling the belt out, it just keeps locking.
Is there a way to make it release without having to just keep trying to pull it?
Been trying that for the last 10mins.
Any help or ideas?
Rear seat belt from an EL if that makes a diff.

Thanks

hi, ive had to fix a few with this same problem.
if u have the parcel shelf carpet off, the centre belt im guessing, its a commom problem for the plastic cover on the top to break and bits fall into the mechanism and jam them up. so check for bits there first. otherwise just gently pull the belt out, sometimes u can feed a little more belt back into it and then gently pull it back out, should come free easy enough.

Its the right side one, I cant feed a little more in because its pretty much all in.
Been trying to gently pull it out but no luck.
I cant see anything that might be jamming it so not sure.

Yeah the belt was removed from the car when it was getting the rear window leak fixed.
All good now guys ended up just popping the side plastic off and holding the "locking pin" back as I pulled the belt out. Back in the car now good as new :D

this is going to sound stupid, but bolt the belt back into place and then try pulling the belt out.

ive heard from a few people that if the angle of the retracting mechanism is not correct the belt will just lock.

this may or may not work, but hey its worth a try

yeah this is somewhat correct as that's the whole way they work eg if the the car swaying enough to change the angle it'll lock you normally having to get them dead vertical to pull them out although, may be a bit different when there desighned to be mounted on an angle already as the backs are.

Nannas_Ed FTW....

Either bolt it back into place and play with it and pull it out or sit it in your hand in a similair postition on how it would sit in the car and gently pull... it does work have done it thousands of times when I worked at the wreckers.
