the ba had its seat position moved to also line it up with the steering wheel. if you sit in the seat of a pre-au, the wheel is slighty on the right. in the ba it should be dead centre in front of you. side airbags started with ba, fairmont ghia and up has them, and option on the xr if i recall.

I have a bf xt wagon now, and i find the seating higher in the BF than in my old ba xr turbo.
The XR's are definantly lower and more comfortable to sit in for prolonged periods.
There was more spacing between my Knees and the steering wheel on the xr than the BF xt

im glad to see that for have made the newer XR seats better, my dads eb Spac has rock hard seats in it. they are the recaro style seats, the back is alot worse than the front though

Has anyone else noticed that you have f**k all room in a BA compared to an AU? The dash, console and doortrims are massive and wrap right around you.
