Guys, here's a calculator to help you figure out values in different LED configurations: http://www.besthongkong.com/clrc.htm . You do need to limit the max LED current draw to 20mA, as higher values will drop the lifespan of the LED. You can get away from using a resistor if you connect your LED's in series, e.g. 4 x 3.4v LEDS in series = 13.6V, they'll use 20mA. Lesser numbers than 4 will need a resistor, but you can run LED's in parallel with each other, and a resistor in series with them to limit the current draw - resistor value won't change, resistor power rating will need to be higher though - you can work this out using the above link. A basic understanding of Ohm's law (V=IR) would be very handy.
Hint: LED's light output is very directional - To improve light diffusion in lighting panels, etc, take off the top lens of the LED - you can use some sharp side cutters, or pincer cutters to do this. Looks rough, but does work - don't worry about the LED, they're pretty bulletproof.

hey Laximah what model car do you have?
i have a EL Fairmont. i was wondering how you got your dash cluster so bright. i think i might change mine to something like yours.
Are your needles clear or do they have blue paint on them?

i have an EF fairmont.. i have used LED bulbs behind the cluster rather than changeing the face! EF's have clear needles..

mine isnt as bright as the pictures look.. as the digi cam did a bit of a shutter adjust and was open a little longer!
