What model XR is the wheel out of?

If it EF,EL or AU it will swap straight over.

the airbag section?

lol doing a doco on this is next on my list! might go out & do it now actually...

but there are 2 x 10mm bolts on the beck, underneath a clip on either side. you need a T-50 torx bit though to take the wheel off

ok
i have done this so i can help for once (didnt even f**k this one up fellas)

ok unclip the battery.... or the airbag fuse
grab a stubbie and wait 5-10mins (this will stop the airbag from breaking your neck if it goes off)

their should be two clips behind the steering wheel, remove them and undo the screws
the airbag should come off now from memory...
lay it down so the bag faces up... be very gentle with it...

unplug the horn n s**t... and undo the weird looking screw thingy which is a t-50 torx screw or something?

any ways once that comes off its pretty easy
just use some elbow greese and bang the top of the wheel, then bottom, then right, then left
takes a bit of work but it'll work out

and then yeh

Im pretty sure thats it, i did this mod in like dec, so im a bit hazy

Follow chunks instructions, he's got it right.

Just don't completely remove the T50 torx bolt until you have the wheel loose or you'll end up wearing a steering wheel in you face, when you eventually pull it off. The wheel can be difficult to remove.
