I believe that it depends on the wires behind the clock. I thought about it for my ef xr6 but was told that I didn't have the right loom.

just spoke with the wreckers, and they told me that if your car has cruis e control you should be right. he also told me that the plug to look for are one black and one white. This means that mine CAN have trip fitted.

I've installed many Trip computers in EF/EL's
You need to add 3 wires to the clock pin outs.
Please read the tech doco:
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=32

It takes about 45mins to complete and is a very easy task and very well rewarding.
I also have a few TC's around but will be asking around the $80 mark
(as you can see they get more and sometimes less than this)

I just put one in my ef no prob. Used the tec doco on here.
When you buy one get the plug with it so you can cut it open and use the wires with the connection pins already on them.
Also ef and el use different size connection pins in the clock plug.

Are you guys sure that the EF/EL plugs are 100% different?

Not that I'm aware of, I've installed about 5 TC and never come across any other variety of plugs. I've also sold about 10 of them and each had the same plugs.

I've always used the instrument cluster pins, and added to the existing clock plug, (not a fan of cutting wires in any car.. even at the wreckers.)

Turns out i was given pins out of the demister plug instead of the clock plug, hence different size.
