I have just installed a trip meter into my EL wagon. Display illuminates when ignition turned, can set clock etc. When i turn the lights on the display disappears. The illumination for the side writing & the buttons work & they also dim. Can someone advise me on what i have done wrong.

 After more reading & searching I found that i need to add a 47ohm resistor to the cluster. Will do this tomorrow.

or just cut the illumination/dimming wires, dimming is way overrated anyway

hi, one thing i noticed that if the clock in teh ef/el etc dont show a display , more than likely its teh little globe in the back of the clock , i only just found this out , for u to be able to see the display , the globe HAS to be working , looks like its got some weird type of display.

Added the 47ohm resistor all good now. Just have to replace oil pressure sensor & do mod to washer bottle low level.
