Hey guys

I put a V8 cluster in my EL, and of course the tacho jumps around everywhere, so i was wondering if anyone has a way of fixing this. would a jaycar speedo corrector work?

thanks!

No, 6 cylinder needs a 6 cylinder tacho.
It's counting too many ignition pulses due to 8 cylinders so its spinning out.

how did you swap the tacho? surely that would mean the whole board in the cluster?

You can pull out the tacho + fuel + oil, its seperate to the board and is held in by the pins of the needle motor thingos.
Same goes for speedo side.

EF onwards do not have a different tacho between V8s and 6, a data line from the engine ECU sends a signal to the cluster telling it what RPM it is.

The the sounds of it if you tacho was working fine before fitting another cluster, you probably have a faulty tacho in the replacement cluster.
