Im installing EL Ghia door trims in my ED XR6 and havnt decided what to do with the wood grain strips that run along the top of the trim. Should I use them? Paint them (I was thinking of red, to match up with the outside red strips along the car - but I think it'll be too much red)
Or just not have them at all?

Woodgrain doesnt really suits an XR, but I think something needs to be there.

Then you will be left with the indents where they have been, and mine have dowel holes, where they sit, which you would also have to fill in.

if the wood grain is in good condition and u want to paint them id have a look around the forum for someone that has some that the grain is not in that great of condition.

see if they wanna swap + some $$ or just straight swap if ya want to.

dont really see the point in rek'n a good set of wood grains.

put them on and see what u think first i rek.

just my 2 cents.

Exactly, sell the woodgrain maybe, and get something else in to paint.

I got the woodgrian trim off a DL doors and put them into my EF Futura doors.

Either use the woodgrain as is, or sell it. Would be a crime to ruin woodgrain with red paint. :/

why did u get ghia door trims if you don't want the woodgrain? I'd say keep the wood grain as it suits all cars and looks good 8-)

are the xr interiors any different to the monts and lanes?

coz if its more sporty.. i dont think the wood would suit.. as its more for 'luxury' sorta stuff????

if its the same as monts and lanes, i rekon keep it! coz it looks wicked!

i dunno ;s

For an XR, Id get them done in carbon fibre texture!
Or if thats a bit too rich then id get them done (properly) to the external colour, dark blue is it?
Seen this done few times n looks great for something different to the fake wood.

See I find Gloos black to be more luxury than woodgrain these days lol; do it, would look sweet!

I agree with it not necessarily being luxury, dont even think you can get a Falcon now with Woodgrain. Now its all 'brushed aluminium' look. (which Ive though about doing also)
Also though about black chrome (if its possible on plastic), same goes for the metal door handles.

I may try and get a fibreglass/resin mould of them and try a few different colours.
