i did them in the footwells as well, but getting them to come on with the doors was the hard part. couldnt be bothered trying for the dome lamp, so got a gregorys and worked out the wire colours. ended up splicing into them under the drivers door sill. getting them to come on with doors AND fade (futura and up only??) was the hard part. took us hors of trying all different set ups to get to work. all works fine now with an independant switch for just the neons when i dont feel like them.

also on the orig topic, i put one behind the bar in the middle of the EL grille, looks alright as you only see the glow, not the tube, but only ever been used about twice.

i have one on each door sill and under the parcell shelf. also have 2 CCFL tubes from Jaycar under drivers and passengers seat. the ccfl's are as thin as pencil and 300mm long and about 10 times brighter than a normal neon. more expensive though.

I've just been to the Jaycar website and cant find the "CCFL" tubes you mentioned. I suppose there are the same as these:

Also, how many tubes can you run off the ignition on wire?

I was thinking about putting one in each foot well, and one under each of the front seats. Have each one of these hooked up to the switch on the door which turns on the dome light. So they act as courteousy lights

Maybe also one in the boot, to turn on instead of the boot inside light, and then run them all into one switch, so if i have my oldies in the car, or cops swarming, i can get out of the car without being bathed in neon blue light!!

one under each door trim. the slimline ones from jaycar just miss the scuff plates when the door is closed. when the doors are opened, it gives a nice glow on the ground. one over the rear seat in the middle. looks cool at night, kinda like brian's skyline in 2f 2f. wired up to go on when doors open, and also a switch to keep em on at night.

I am actually surprised at how many people here have neons inside the car!!!

I saw a mates car with blue neons that flash to the beat of the music in the footwells, and gave him so much s**t about it.

I have some purple neons in the front grill of my XR, and white strobes in the front indicators.

I very rarely use them. I put them in to attract attention at summernats a few years ago, and never bothered removing them.

Yeah... its a bit.

I used to have them under neat the front seats at the back to highlight the back footwells, but they get kick and Ive had em break tooo many times.

and if a copper ever asks you what the UV neons are for on the windscreen ..... tell him/her that they are for "Map reading purposes"

and then wait for response. its classic.

what do u guys reckon about doing a set of angel headlights on an XR model (by angel i mean when parkers are on bright blue circles light up instead of normal dull light). maybe using some of the flexible neon tubing, or a round ring or LED's... possible? very kool... i think so!
