Howdy knowledgeable electrics guys....

I have fitted an NF Fairlane cluster to my EDL wagon but am at a bit of a loss how to correctly wire the door ajar sensors. I have had a look at the tech docs on the subject but it doesn't explain everything (not that I can see anyway).

I created my 12 pin plug and have 6 wires hanging out of the bottom of the dash. However, the 6 things that need wiring produces 12 wires.

First up, where do you "attach" the negative wires - ground them to the body or do you tap into a black wire running around the car?

Second, I have fitted an EL fuel door and that does not seem to have anywhere to put the magnet and I just cannot see where to attach the sensor side of things within the fuel filler area? Any suggestions...

Third, currently I have 5 flashing things on the dash - the 4 doors and the fuel flap. The tailgate (boot) however is not flashing. How is this wired, especially in an ED/EF/EL which does not have a light "switch" for the rear interior light?

Please remember that I am a neophyte when it comes to wiring things, so please be gentle when explaining things...

Thanks in advance

Cheers
RD

RD if the sensors function anything like those in a NA-NC2, the wires earth onto the body. I ran the wires from the cluster to each of those little pesky black switches in the locking mechanism. The other wire from each switch, I earthed them out onto the door behind the door trim.

Bingo! Thanks banarcus

Thats the info I was after. I had a suspicion that the earths could just be grounded as I have been stripping the ED wiring I pulled out and all the black wires ended up being screwed/bolted to the body. Now I only have to work out the fuel flap and tailgate....

Cheers

they do and are much easier to source.
