I just got my passenger side woodgrain piece from thompson ford today. From NF fairlane. I think DF ltds had a gear selector surround in the same woodgrain finish as ef door trims. DL and GTs had a darker type of woodgrain finish i think.

I think you've confirmed my suspicions.

Anyone got pics of DF woodgrain? :)

This post refers to the cars as they were built. Sorry if it gets confusing but... Most except very late build EF1 Fairmont Ghias appear to have a lighter door woodgrain than the EF2 and EL Fairmont Ghias. This difference is greater in a photo, than looking at them in the flesh. Can't say why for EF2 but maybe the EL is darker so it would match the gear shifter surround, bearing in mind no EF Ghias had woodgrain around the gearshift. Same seems to apply to NF Fairlane compared to NL Fairlane. Different though are DF and DL LTDs, all of which have woodgrain on the doors and around the shifter, but the "timber" is a dark walnut pattern instead. Additionally these LTDs have walnut around the radio etc and the rear courtesy light in the centre console. EL Falcon GTs also have extensive walnut woodgrain throughout. DF1 LTD, NF1 Fairlane and EF1 Fairmont Ghia didn't have a front-passenger air bag so the LTD and Fairlane got the applicable woodgrain insert on the dash above the glove box. NL Fairlane Concorde and EL GT also had woodgrain on the steering wheel. So, be careful if you want all your woodgrain to match because there are three woodgrain colours in these various F and L series Fords.:? PS: Chicken (original post) needs a dash insert from an NF1 Fairlane.
