the way my gas setup on my ba with vapour injection is the switch to go from petrol to gas does not show how much gas is in the tank, so i have to check via the gauge on the tank so i am interested in whether anybody has any experience fitting a dial fuel gauge to show how much fuel is in the gas tank or even some idea of how one might go about fitting one before i go out and and buy one.
any help would be appreciated

there should be some sensor output on the tank, usually it'll be a resistance value but I think it's a voltage on some of them, I am pretty sure you'll be able to hook it up to a normal fuel gauge, someone here will have more info than I do.

Choose any style of aftermarket dial type gauge that has a 0-90 ohm range and fit the tank a 0-90 sender (if it isn't already) If you have to change the sender, the ECU for the LPG will need to have that setting changed to suit so it knows how full the tank is.

Ok sounds simple enough if i end up needing to change the setting on the ecu would i just go to a mechanics that does gas conversions to get the setting changed?

Any one that has the laptop software for your system. It won't effect the tune at all, it just needs to know how full the tank is.

Should be easy enough to find someone with it and Do i need to use a multi-meter to work out the resistance of the current sender or should it be written on the sender

Ok have worked out that its 0-90 ohm sender thats already on it and i should have a gauge sometime in the next two weeks, now fitting the gauge, is it is as simple two wires to hook up the gauge to the sender? Or am i not that lucky

Follow the instructions that will come with gauge.

Should be 3 wires, one to earth, one to sender and one to ignition.
Then will have two extras for backlight.

I will post up some pics when i can get on a computer i sat there and worked it out as an actual wiring diagram and now it makes sense im just not completely sure whether i would be taken the power from the ignition barrel or running a wire from the battery and switching it from what i can work out this would be the easier option, but not having done a great deal of electrical work on a car that wasnt followed word for word from instructions or a wiring diagram, perhaps you could give me some suggestions?

All you need to find a switch 12v that is not ECU related and has the ability to deal with the extra load.
You could take it from the back of the cig lighter socket.
