Hi All,
I am doing a gas install on my AU3 & to do a very clean install I would like the functionality of the factory gas ecu to switch spark maps, cut injectors, maybe feed the DTE from the gas tank, & what ever else is useful from the gas features. Either I would like to purchase the ecu from the said vehicle or maybe the easier option is to find out the catch code & use a J3 to convert my ecu to a factory duel fuel. Anyone has an ecu or know the catch code or own a factory duel fuel AU2 (was not a factory option for AU3 - I believe). Thanks, Shane |

I think I have found 2 options - 12GA or 12VC? Can anyone confirm either of these?

I have a dual fuel AU1 ECU, its catch code is WABF. Its 03/99 build so smartlock not smartshield which is no good for you.

There is no Duel fuel ECU for AU2/3 they are straight gas.
AU1 ECU won't work. |

I have seen advertised some AU2 factory dual fuels & even in the photos they look factory. I might try Ford to find out what ecu is in those (got VIN #) Thanks, Shane |

My AUII factory dedicated gas has catch code 12LD. Not sure this is any help to you because from what I have read the L stands for south african import which is strange as the car came new from an Australian dealership

I got the VIN number of a factory dual fuel AU2 wagon the other day & gave it to Ford to find out the part number of the ECU. Came up with R1R23 12A650 ZE, I guess the catch code is 12ZE.
Not sure if the auto shifting would suit the sedan, but could give it a go & see. Thanks for the responses so far. Keep them coming. Shane |

didn't the dual fuel vehicle's have 2 separate ECU's like the EF tickford LPG systems?
I would have thought that the AU's would utilise the same technology. |

No they rolled them both into the eecv. I ended up getting a J3 from Jason (Tiperformance) programmed to 12ZD (earlier version of 12ZE I think) and my AU3 now functions the same as a dual fuel monster. Hit the fuel button the DTE changes to lpg, the fuel gauge changes to lpg (need to work out the right sender unit yet to get her to read correct), the ignition & auto trans maps change, & hopefully (yet to be tested) the stepper outputs & gas lockoff are happening. The only issue that I have found is whenever the a/c fan is on the a/c is working regardless if the a/c is on or off. There was a wire in one pin on the eec that I was hoping not to be there but looks like it is related to a/c. Need to try a couple of things to sort that one out. Low prority right now though. i think you need a 2 - 176 Ohm fuel sender unit for your LPG tank.
